The secret to fuelling fresh optimism in European tech.
Resilience. As Sifted notes, Europe’s “back-to-fundamentals” mindset, profitable growth, healthier revenues, and discipline has become a calling card.
That foundation now meets real tailwinds: UK VC ticked up again in H1, AI took a record share of funding, M&A is re-accelerating (94 fintech deals vs. 76 YoY), and headline commitments like Microsoft’s £22B as part of a wider UK–US tech pact signal long-term confidence. Policy momentum is there too, from the EU’s proposed €20B InvestAI to plans for five AI “gigafactories.”
My recommendation: build on resilience with scale execution, not just capital.
𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀: think beyond the next round. Prioritise development velocity and, above all, sales power: shared go-to-market, multi-country coverage, repeatable playbooks, and product consolidation where it reduces friction and boosts ACV.
𝗚𝗣𝘀 - 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘆:: step outside traditional comfort zones. Europe is full of profitable, niche software and tech-services firms that are sub-scale alone but potent when organised as roll-ups—with AI as the modernization engine and a unified commercial motion. This is how we convert today’s optimism into pan-European category leaders faster.
